Please see the SDSS-III Collaboration page for information about SDSS-III member institutions and funding agencies.

The SDSS-III Data Releases are the product of efforts by many individuals supported by many institutions. The Johns Hopkins University has had a lead role in the design and implementation of the database and the associated query tools. Most of the database and query software was developed for SDSS-I and II, and upgraded as necessary for SDSS-III. Fermilab has provided key support for the data servers, system testing, and project management for SDSS-I and II.

The Microsoft Bay Area Research Center helped develop the original version of the SkyServer and its interface, and Microsoft Research has contributed computing hardware and software for the SkyServer.
